Davy Jones Liquor Locker & Market

Originally built 1968

Remodel Architect: Jason Herber
Replaced: Flooring, ceiling, merchandise display
Mural: Beau Stanton

My goal was to preserve as much of the original charm and architecture of this historic liquor store as possible. The aim was to maintain a welcoming, local, neighborhood-oriented space with an elevated market feel. The original wood pillars and corbels served as the focal points for the nautical-inspired theme, so we ensured any deteriorating areas were reinforced, both inside and on the exterior of the building. We upgraded all retail display and furnishings. A skilled carpenter fabricated custom designed liquor and retail shelves that lined the back of the register, matching the corbels’ stain to highlight the natural wood. The bright countertop provided a clean and modern touch, along with a new polished concrete floor. The exterior mural by Beau Stanton beautifully ties in nautical themes from the original liquor store.
